Etsy!

I have finally posted my first items on Etsy!  I am so excited.  Someone already favorited one too! Here's a picture of one of my items:
I have a not-so-great camera, so I had lots of trouble getting good, focused pictures.  But with Jake's help, I got a couple passable shots. Behold the failed pics:

I have lots of felt just waiting to be transformed in all kinds of colors.
Here's the link!  I hope to do a tutorial for my next post, which is also very exciting.
Thanks for reading!

Home again

Well I'm back in St. Louis.  After much deliberation on where I would be living this summer, I am back in with my parents!  There's somewhat of a mold situation in the room that used to be mine in high school.  So I don't have a place to really be here yet. So this summer will be interesting.  I am very excited to live in the same city as Jake for a while now!

Well another very exciting thing is my apartment for next year!!  I have my furniture basically all figured out for my room (maybe) and we are actually starting to pay bills and stuff!  I know paying bills shouldn't be that exciting, but hey it's my first time and I am a nerd. :-P So there.
This is my new room! It's not very attractive yet, people other than me still live there and haven't quite given it the care that I will. :-)

My wonderful voice teacher, Dr. Carlson, is moving away from Truman and Kirksville. Sad day. :-( But in her moving she sold some of her furniture to us at awesome deals for our new apartment!  I am so excited, she has great taste in furniture.

Here's the roomies on our new couch!

So more plans are to come, both for this summer and for next year!
Also, now that I am home, hopefully I can start actually running my Etsy store!

Well here goes nothing... or something?

Hello blog world!
This is my first blog ever, so be nice.

I guess before we go too much further, you should know some stuff about me.

I go to a medium-sized liberal arts college in a dinky town in Missouri.  I am a music nerd there.  In fact, this semester, every single class I had was in the music building.  Including my English class.  For which I wrote a paper on music.  I am in a wonderful group of girls who love to sing acappella music, Minor Detail.  This group is so much more to me than an extra-curricular activity.

I am studying to be a choir teacher.  Possibly of... middle school. Yes. Cringe if you must. But for some reason, I love this age group, and the more I think about it, the more I want to direct a choir at this level.  I love children in general though.  I babysat consistently throughout high school and before that, I was a full-time nanny for two summers, and I essentially helped raise my much younger brother.  One of the hardest things about college is all the adults.  I hardly ever see kids when I'm up at school, and that is sad.

I am Christian, but it's ok if you're not.  I was raised with a Jewish father and a Christian mother and learned religious tolerance very early on.  In fact, intolerance confused me for a very long time because I did not understand how it worked.  Sadly, my home church is morphing into something I don't really recognize anymore.  I haven't found a church home at school yet, and with my crazy schedule, it may not happen.  Since I experience God most through people, just going to service doesn't create a spiritual connection for me.

Some noteworthy people in my life:
My boyfriend, Jake.  He graduates with his undergraduate in aerospace engineering this Saturday.  I am so proud of him.  This summer will mark our three-year anniversary, and I will live with him for the summer as he gets ready for grad school.  We have been long distance for almost the entirety of our three years, and I am so excited to see him every day.
My roommates.  I have known Laura since I was six years old.  She's been my one constant friend my entire life that I knew would always be there.  She knows me so well, and is my best friend.
Sarah and Maddy live across the bathroom. They have come to be my best friends and I am so excited for us all to live in an apartment together next year.
My family.  My mother is the strongest, most patient person I know.  I honestly do not know how she does everything that she does.  My father is a clown.  Not literally, (though he was literally at one point)  but he has trouble making through a meal without making a joke.  They sometimes make sense.  In fact, I don't think I've ever had a meal with him that didn't have a terrible pun in there somewhere.  My brother is 13 and in seventh grade.  He is so intelligent but such a goofball.  My Aunt Ronna has been living with my family for a little while, and helps my family more than she knows.  I am so grateful that she is there when I am up at school.  Jake's family is also very important to me.  I have known them for years, and his sister Abby has been one of my best friends since middle school.

One last thing that matters to me, that I will probably talk about most in this blog, is crafty things.  I love creating cute and useful(or not) things.  I am obsessed with everything having to do with weddings,  even though I won't be getting married until I'm at least done with school.  I have just opened up a shop on Etsy to sell these things I would be making in my free time anyway.  Since I am about to move out of a cramped dorm, there's no actual products listed yet.  Don't worry!  They'll be up soon. :)

Thanks for reading!  I'm not sure exactly where this blog will go, but let's find out!
